Capoeira World Championship
IDENTITY AND PHILOSOPHY
The Capoeira World Championship is an event grounded in the philosophy of Capoeira, understood as a game, art, culture, education, social interaction, and sport.
The competition evaluates the GAME, not direct confrontation.
In capoeira, one plays with the partner, building a bodily dialogue based on respect, control, and awareness.

The organization may adjust categories according to the number of registered athletes, always prioritizing technical balance and safety.
4. COMPETITION SYSTEM – PRELIMINARY ROUND (“PENEIRÃO”)
4.1 General Qualification
The initial classification will be carried out through a Preliminary Round (Peneirão), in the format of a Large Roda:

All athletes play against all others

Continuous games, led by the bateria

Evaluation considers the athlete’s overall participation
The following will be observed:

Emotional control

Respect for the roda and the partner
4.2 Elimination Rounds
After the preliminary round, qualified athletes advance to:

Scores are reset at the beginning of each phase.
5. GAME RHYTHMS
5.1 General rhythms (all categories)

São Bento Pequeno – 60 seconds
5.2 Special rhythm – Professional Category
Iúna (at the discretion of the organization) – exclusive for:

Characteristics of Iúna:

No singing

No clapping

Conducted exclusively by the berimbau

Requires high technical level, precision, control, and body awareness
Game time:

Iúna – 60 seconds
6. GENERAL EVALUATION CRITERIA
Evaluation considers the quality of the game, not isolated actions.
The capoeirista will be evaluated on their ability to play with control, intention, fluidity, and respect.
7. OFFICIAL EVALUATION TABLE
👉 Each criterion is worth 0 to 2 points
👉 Maximum score per game: 10 points

Important notes
Acrobatics only score when:

Do not put the partner at risk
Isolated, excessive, or dangerous acrobatics do not score and may result in penalties.
IÚNA Evaluation
In Iúna, greater qualitative weight is given to:

8. TIEBREAKERS
Tie-breaking criteria, in order:

Highest overall score
-
Highest score in Control & Safety

Highest score in Rhythm

New game or decision by the Organizing Committee
9. PROHIBITED MOVES
Strictly prohibited:

Finger in the eyes
-
Elbow strikes to the face
-
Punches to the face
-
Headbutts to the face
-
Kicks to the genital area
-
Ground grappling
-
Any violent or uncontrolled behavior
10. SAFETY IN ACROBATIC MOVEMENTS (FLIPS)
-
It is forbidden to strike, pressure, or attack the opponent during a flip
-
The athlete performing the flip must have full freedom to execute and finish the movement
⚠️ Failure to comply results in IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
11. TAKEDOWNS

Takedowns are allowed when executed with control and technique
-
It is forbidden to slam, throw, or violently project the opponent to the ground
-
Dangerous takedowns are considered serious misconduct
12. CONDUCT SUBJECT TO DISQUALIFICATION

Aggression inside or outside the game

Disrespect toward the partner

Disrespect toward the event organization

Disrespect toward referees or the bateria

Unsportsmanlike conduct
Possible penalties:

13. BATERIA
The official bateria consists of:

3 berimbaus (Gunga, Médio, Viola)

The Gunga sets the rhythm of the game.
14. FINAL PROVISIONS

Registration implies full acceptance of this regulation

Omitted cases will be resolved by the Organizing Committee

Respect for capoeira, the roda, and the partner is an absolute principle
